In an age when cosmetic surgery is more affordable than ever, many are looking to celebrities for their makeover inspiration.
Whether it’s a Kardashian bottom, a Kate Middleton nose, or a Brad Pitt jaw, for every success story there’s those who take this to the extreme, spending thousands on shocking results.
Those taking cues from Kim Kardashian have given the butt-lift a meteoric rise. 2014’s fastest growing cosmetic surgery procedure can be quickly pinned on Kim.
Dr Barry Kaplan, MD says: “Pretty much every Brazilian Butt Lift patient, about 12 per week, are wanting to look like Kim Kardashian if they’re in their 20s and 30s!”
According to surgeons, the phenomenon of patients asking to look the spitting image of their idols is a common occurrence.
“I have had several patients ask to look exactly like a celebrity” says Boston based surgeon Dr Jeffrey Spiegel “These encounters necessitate a long conversation…we won’t try to make you a celebrity’s doppleganger”.
Ed Beardsell of cosmetic surgery comparison website Clinic Compare comments: “With the rise of celebrity imitation surgery it is important that those seeking surgery look to compliment their face, body and natural beauty, rather than the looks of a celebrity”.
With this in mind, we look at seven celebrity superfans who went under the knife to look like their idol.
Justin Jedlica has spent $170,000 on “149 cosmetic procedures” and “19 actual full-on surgeries” to enhance his looks.
Chicago-based Justin, 33, underwent his first cosmetic procedure – a nose reconstruction – just four days after his 18th birthday, and has since had surgery on most parts of his body, including chest, shoulder, tricep and bicep implants, cheek and lip augmentations, gluteoplasty – buttock augmentation – and thigh and calf implants.
Although dubbed the Human Ken Doll after Barbie’s beau, Jedlica told news website The Daily Beast that his main inspiration comes from Japanese anime manga, Michael Jackson and Joan Rivers.
Great grandmother Annette Edwards hit the headlines in 2009 after spending £10,000 on plastic surgery to turn herself into Jessica Rabbit. It was also believed that the then 57-year-old was also the owner of the world’s biggest bunny.
Los Angeles native Toby Sheldon took his obsession with pop star Justin Bieber to the next level when he spent £60,000 on surgery in an effort to look like his hero. Although the singer is 14 years his junior, 33-year-old Toby was said to want to capture Justin’s “youthful glow”.
Agnieszka Orzechowska went under the knife as part of a TV show called 'Changing Image'. The 28-year-old Pole says she has always borne a resemblance to the Hollywood actress but has undergone work on her eyes, nose and mouth to enhance this.
Aspiring actor Nicholas Ryan was reported to have spent $5,000 (about £3,000) on an intensive round of Botox and filler injections to make his face look more like actor Ryan Gosling’s.
Is it a bird? Is it a plane? No, it’s Herbert Chavez, who has spent the last 16 years undergoing surgery to transform into his heroic alter-ego. Chavez, 35, has even had his nose reshaped so he looks more like 1970s Superman actor Christopher Reeve.
Sisters Karen and Jennifer Lopez-Garcia (no joke) told the Daily Mail they envied curvy women like J-Lo so much so that their mother has spent £20,000 on procedures for them.
