While we’re well versed on dressing up for a wedding or a birthday party, you’re more likely to find us in flats and jeans for the school run or weekly shop than you are couture and crystals.
But when you live in celebrity land, every street is your catwalk. The impracticalities us normal folk might encounter while doing our everyday chores - a kid’s sticky chocolate-smeared hand or a grease mark from filling up our car with petrol – are of no concern to these famous faces who dress up to the nines for any an occasion.
Well, that's one way to feed baby North quicker! Kim Kardashian was so keen to be reunited with her one-year-old after a photo shoot in New York that she didn't have time to change - which saw her lunching with big sis Kourtney and North in a rather risque jumpsuit cut to the navel.
Couture to the swings? When you’re Mariah Carey, it’s the equivalent of wearing sweats and trainers. The superstar diva thinks nothing of pushing her three-year-old twins Moroccan and Monroe on the swings wearing an eye-poppingly figure-hugging Alaia gown and matching £1,050 belt. Bet their snacks aren’t a Ribena carton and an ice-lolly…
Walking the dog
Catherine Zeta Jones obviously enjoys her pedi-pooch time: she’s kitted out as if she’s hitting New York’s swankiest eaterie. Our feet hurt at the mere thought of pounding the streets with a pet in those sky-high heels.
Stocking up on cushions
Ikea this ain’t – we can’t imagine Kim Kardashian-West and her mum Kris Jenner will be ordering the meatballs at this home décor shop. The pair hit an LA boutique decked out in all-white mini dresses and matching designer heels. You know what would set these outfits off? A trolley, naturally.
Dining with Dad
We all love to dress up a little when dining at an exclusive restaurant and Lady Gaga is no exception. Forget a classic black dress or smart casual jeans, Lady G went full-on rainbow mermaid for dinner with her dad. If we turned up like this, we think our dear old dads might sneak out the back…
When your errands list is as long as your arm, you want to be able to run here, there and everywhere. We’re not sure Gwen Stefani will get that far in her pristine white boiler suit and vertiginous heels but hey, it’s Hollywood.
Taking out the rubbish
Let’s hope there’s no bin-juice leakages onto American reality star Snooki’s fashionable choices – or her semi-suede wedges either! This is definitely a look we won’t be copying to empty our bins.
The school run
Louboutins, a Chanel handbag and massive floppy hat? It’s the ideal attire for the school run according to Myleene Klass. The Loose Women presenter makes the school gates her sartorial playground as she drops off daughter Ava.
Hang on –you’ve not been wearing your uber glam cape, oversized sunnies and heels to fill up the car with petrol? Hell, you’ve been doing it all wrong. American actress Katherine Heigl makes refuelling fashionable.
