We’ve taken the classic punch and given it a Caribbean twist. The fresh root ginger really complements the citrus of the lime juice - nothing says cocktail quite like an in ice cold rum punch cocktail!
The delicious addition of ginger ale and nutmeg to this already classic cocktail certainly brings out a deliciously fruity kick (as well as being one of your five-a-day). So get your ice at the ready and the best bit? There’s no need for a cocktail shaker.
Ready in 5 minutes
1 lime, cut into 8 wedges
4tbsp lime juice
2tsp grated fresh root ginger
2tbsp Demerara Sugar
Pinch of freshly grated or ground nutmeg
100ml dark rum
200ml ginger ale
1. Take two tumbler-style glasses and put 3 lime wedges into each one. Add 2tbsp lime juice, 1tsp grated ginger and 1tbsp demerara sugar to each glass with a pinch of nutmeg.
2. Take a small wooden spoon to ‘muddle’ the ingredients together.
Tip: if the spoon doesn’t fit, just use the handle.
3. Make sure that the sugar has dissolved, then half fill the glasses with ice cubes. Pour the dark rum into the glasses.
4. Top up with ginger ale, then serve immediately, decorated with the remaining lime wedges.
