A cheesy omelette really is a go-to lunch, not only is it super speedy and easy to make, it’s also low calorie and delicious.

Many people like to pimp their omelettes, whether that’s adding, two cheese, chopped onions, a pinch of chilli, or even adding fresh herbs, but the best addition is here in this easy-to-do recipe. In fact, you probably have this tasty flavouring sat right in your cupboard – yep, Marmite.

Now, we get it, some people love it, some people really hate it. But, when it's stirred through, just a teaspoon of Marmite actually works wonders at bringing out the rich, intense flavours. Especially when combined with its true and delicious partner in crime, cheese. Use a spoonful of Marmite to really build on the level of flavours within this light lunch.

Serves 1

Ready in 10 minutes

2 eggs
25g grated cheddar cheese
1 tsp Marmite
Pinch black pepper
2 tomatoes, chopped

1. Crack the eggs into a cup and beat with a fork. Season with black pepper.
2. Grease a frying pan and put on medium heat for 3 minutes. Pour the eggs into the centre and spread the mixture to the edges.
3. Sprinkle the cheese onto the egg mixture while it cooks and add the Marmite over the top.
4. After a couple of minutes, once the eggs have had a chance to cook, fold the omelette in half and squeeze the two sides together with a spatula and hold for 30 seconds before serving.
