From her couture, one-off gowns to the high street brands she triumphs, Kate Middleton has firmly established herself as a bona fide style icon whose look many of us try to emulate.
So much so, in fact, that many brands have benefitted from the so-called Kate effect - a rise in sales thanks to the Duchess of Cambridge wearing one of their pieces.
While on the royal tour of Canada in 2016, Kate was snapped wearing a pair of £50 white plimsolls from trainer brand Superga, which promptly caused an online shopping frenzy as eager Kate fans wanted their own pair.
And earlier last year, both Reiss and Hobbs recorded a rise in sales – fitting that they’re two of the Duchess’ favourite retailers. The Kate effect, perhaps?
Of course, Kate’s no stranger to a designer dress either. Some of her favourite labels include Catherine Walker, Erdem, Mulberry and Jenny Packham – the Daily Mail estimated that the cost of her wardrobe in 2016 was a hefty £174,170. Not surprising really when some of her gowns cost upwards of £1,000 a-piece and she's been known to have designer frocks altered and personalised.
