If we could bottle the secret to staying slim, we’d all be millionaires, right?

Well, French beauty brand Veld’s believes it has done just that, with their Prends Moi perfume, which they say is “the first fragrance to boost your well-being” which “helps to compensate for bad eating habits (snacking)”.

So, what natural scents could stop you snacking?

Shona Wilkinson, head nutritionist at NutriCentre, lists three essential oils that are known for enhancing your mood naturally – without the need for chocolate – which in turn could keep snacking at bay:

1. Peppermint oil

“Smelling this essential oil has been known to stimulate our senses. It enhances the focus of our thoughts and brain, and can provide clarity to our thinking.

"This is because smelling peppermint has been found to stimulate the trigeminal nerve.

"This in turn stimulates the area of the brain responsible for arousal and can make you more alert and full of energy.

"Try inhaling peppermint oil at your lowest energy point in the day and it will boost and revive your energy levels naturally.”

2. Clementine

“The sensational scent of this fruit is one of the most positive and arousing things you can smell, according to a study conducted in the journal Chemical Senses.

"Burning this essential oil is a great mood-boosting technique!

"Also, one of the biggest benefits of clementines is that they’re loaded with citric acid, which helps eliminate the bacteria that typically cause blemishes.

"So if you’re suffering from oily or combination skin that likes to erupt in blackheads and pimples, this is a great ingredient for you.”

3. Grapefruit

“Grapefruit is known as one of the best fruits to eat for weight loss and helping to burn fat.
