Strictly Come Dancing star Carol Kirkwood has revealed that she’s suffering from a serious eye condition.
The 53-year-old has admitted she’s “scared” as she faces surgery to help to protect her eyesight – and said that she’s already starting to lose her vision.
Carol, who was paired with Strictly professional dancer Pasha Kovalev, told Woman magazine: “'I've got to have an operation on my eye and, even though it's minor, I'm still a little scared.
“I’ve got such a droopy eyelid. I’m starting to lose part of my sight. And it will only get worse, so I’d better have it sorted.”
Carol first realised she had a problem with her eyesight when TV viewers sent her messages on Twitter. They suggested she had her eye checked out after she appeared on BBC Breakfast with it looking bloodshot and swollen last November.
“Really touched that you are asking about my eye. It doesn’t hurt, but I am going to have it checked out properly now,” she tweeted in response.
Carol later added: “Thank you for asking about my eye again this morning. I really appreciate it. Doc says it’s fine but it could take a month to return to normal.”
Unfortunately, the problem hasn’t cleared up and she now faces surgery.
But despite being scared of going under the knife, Carol has vowed that it won’t affect her run on Strictly.
