If you’re planning a big shop or some DIY over the holidays, you’ll need to be aware of opening hours.

To help you, here's a guide to general Christmas and New Year bank holiday opening times for Britain’s major supermarkets and DIY stores.

Boxing Day

The majority of UK-wide stores will be open, but will operate bank holiday or reduced opening hours.

New Year's Eve

All UK supermarkets and convenience stores will be open, but the majority will be operating reduced hours, and many will close at 7pm.

New Year's Day

The majority of UK-wide stores will be open, but will operate bank holiday or reduced opening hours.

2 January 2017

2 January is not a bank holiday, so all UK supermarkets and convenience stores should be open.

Specific opening times vary according to location, so we highly recommend checking local details using each company’s store finder tool. We’ve included a link for each.
