Four days off at Easter is bliss. You can do DIY, visit friends and family, spend quality time with your partner and you’ve still got time to visit somewhere a little further afield.

But rather than hop on a plane, Brighton on the Sussex coast is the perfect place to go for the day or even a long weekend.

And it’s not just the beach this city has to offer – here are 10 more things you should do in this city by the sea.

1. Go shopping

Brighton’s got it all for the discerning shopaholic. The high street boasts all your favourites while the narrow alleyways of the Lanes are home to a bevy of independent shops selling wares you’ll struggle to find elsewhere.

Don’t miss: Visit the historic Lanes for independent jewellery shops.

2. Sea Life Centre

You won’t find the Little Mermaid here but you will find the life aquatic – and yes, that includes Nemo and Dory. Sharks, turtles and seahorses all call this place home.

Don’t miss: The Turtle Feeding Experience – but make sure you book in advance.

3. Brighton Pavilion

Brighton’s iconic and exotic Pavilion isn’t just beautiful on the outside: take a tour of the pavilion and discover more about King George IV’s holiday home.

Don’t miss: The exhibit of visions of the Royal Pavilion estate throughout history is a fantastic way to take in some culture.

4. Do some crafts

Whether you’re a budding Picasso or a member of the Mister Maker school of art, Brighton is home to a range of fun and hands-on craft activities, from painting to pottery throwing.

Don’t miss: The Painting Pottery Café is great for adults and kids – give their taster throwing session a whirl.

5. Grab a coffee

Give your usual coffee chain a miss for once and while away the hours in one of Brighton’s independent coffee shops or bakeries.

Don’t miss: The Flour Pot’s incredible treats and rich coffee.

6. Indulge

It’s Easter, so it’s the perfect excuse to indulge – the one place you must go to is Choccywoccydoodah’s Bar Du Chocolat for an indulgent treat you’ll surely never forget. Want something different? Try the delicious chocolate gelato from Boho Gelato on Ship Street which also offer Vegan and delicious seasonal flavours.

Don’t miss: Choccywoccydoodah’s Witches Kitchen for a true chocolate indulgence for parties of 10 or more.

7. Head to the pier

What’s a visit to the seaside without a trip to the pier? Brighton’s is fun-filled and perfect for a stroll, even if you don’t go on a ride. Sure, it’s a little cheesy but who can’t resist some candy floss?
