We’re constantly bombarded with information on the dangers of sunbathing when abroad but young Brits are underestimating the risks when at home in the UK, says a new report.
A study into people’s attitude towards sun protection found that 18-24 year-olds are the biggest culprits, with only 24% admitting they apply a high level of sunscreen when at home – and a whopping half of the respondents saying they’d been sunburnt one or more times while in Britain in the past year.
The survey, by AXA PPP healthcare, found the older generation to be much more sun-savvy with just 14% of those aged 55+ saying they’d been burnt by the British sun.
