We’ve scored a double success at the government-backed National Apprenticeship Awards.

Technical Manager John Clarke won National Apprenticeship Champion, which is awarded to a former apprentice who’s gone on to further the apprentice movement.

And we were named in the Top 100 Apprenticeship Employers list 2016, which recognises companies offering great opportunities to apprentices.

Robert Halfon, minister for apprenticeships and skills, said: “These awards ensure apprenticeships get the prestige they deserve, while shining a light on the fantastic work that both apprentices and their employers do.”

John beat hundreds of others to the title.

He works evenings and weekends organising career seminars and educational visits to inspire apprentices to make the most of our programmes. John also chairs our Apprentice Alumni, supporting 4,000 former apprentices.

He said: “Through the Knowing BT and What Next programmes, more than 4,000 current and former apprentices have learnt about themselves and our company.

“It’s this additional development, coupled with a great core programme, which makes the BT Apprenticeship programme great and is why I picked up the champion award.”
