We’re providing more than 100 libraries and community centres with free wi-fi plus digital support for local people. We’ve teamed up with Barclays to do it.

Ed Vaizey, minister for culture, communications and creative industries, joined the launch of our free wi-fi at Nunhead Library in Southwark, London.

“Increasingly libraries and other community spaces will be the place to go for people who don’t have the access or the confidence to use digital services,” he says.

BT Digital Friends and Barclays Digital Eagles will be providing free technology advice to help local people.

Around 11 per cent of the UK population have never been online, and that figure rises to 61 per cent for people aged over 75.
