When Nando’s invited us down to sample the new Spring menu – we obviously jumped at the chance. I mean, who doesn’t love Nando’s?

Approaching the industrial door at the top secret address of the Nando’s test kitchen, we weren’t sure we were in the right place, but hidden behind was a stylish, light and airy restaurant and kitchen decked out in the latest Nando’s interiors shipped over from South Africa.

And of course it smelled amazing.

The signature piece of the new Nando’s menu, which will launch next Tuesday, is the Fino Platter (£23.95 for two people).

Centred on a spatchcock chicken infused with your favourite PERi-PERi spice and a grilled lemon, the mouthwatering plate features another newbie – PERi-PERi butter on the corn, as well as the first new regular side since 2005 – Supergrains. Not to forget the sweet potato wedges, Fino coleslaw and chargrilled veg – what a combo!

Sangria has been given a Nando’s twist with three types of Vinho Spritzers – red, white or rose (£9.95 for a carafe). They were all refreshing but the white, which had mint and lime in it, was the best.

There’s also a new pomegranate sauce, which was meant to be a salad dressing but also tastes great on ice cream. However the sweet new highlight of the menu has to be two new brownies – salted caramel or PERi-PERi (£2.45 each). For us the spicy chocolate PERi-PERi was our favourite. (Yes we tried both.)

Another new addition is the Supergrain Salad.

Oh and before we forget to mention, special guests included Example and Stormzy.

Stormzy clearly enjoyed it but sadly there was no sign of the #Merky burger.

He didn’t seem too bothered though.
