Remember Eddie Southern Rail? He’s hit the jackpot.

After his now-viral stint taking over Southern Rail’s Twitter account on Tuesday, he brought his charm, good humour and diplomacy to Channel 4’s comedy show, The Last Leg.

The train company’s former work experience student joined hosts Adam Hills, Josh Widdicombe and Alex Brooker to answer viewers’ burning questions on Friday.

Alongside the hashtag #eddieisitok, Twitter users once again turned to Eddie to find out the meaning of life, if it’s okay to reheat rice, and if he’d been hit by a smooth criminal (among other things).

Understandably, Eddie could not get through the 120 or so replies, however he tackled a select few with enviable dexterity. And this kid’s only 15?

Eddie became a social media sensation earlier in the week, when he introduced himself on Southern Rail’s Twitter account, eager to answer transport related questions.

Within hours, the account was flooded with hundreds of questions related to everything but trains, and the young lad handled a few of them rather brilliantly.

So brilliantly, in fact, that Southern let him back at the controls the next day.

Earlier this week, Southern confirmed Eddie’s run was part of a “structured work experience programme”.

A statement from the company read: “We are pleased to have given Eddie an insight into working life in our social media team and are thrilled to see that he won over so many of our customers.

“We have been very impressed at his quick-wit and positive approach at the age of just 15.

“Eddie’s time with the Southern Twitter team was part of a structured work experience programme with Govia Thameslink Railway which Eddie has excelled in. During this time he has spent time with Train Service Managers, as well as information controllers, Train Service Assistants and Fleet Control Managers.

“Using social media to keep our passengers up-to-date is a key part of our modernisation plan.”
