A group of students from Eton College met with Russia's president Vladimir Putin during a visit to Moscow.
Pictures on social media show the group sitting around a table in the Kremlin with President Putin, and shaking hands with the Russian leader.
Theresa May will meet Putin for the first time since she became Prime Minister at an international summit next week.
The students' visit is believed to have been hosted by the Russian government and included a two-hour private meeting with the president.
Among the group was Trenton Bricken, who wrote on Facebook: "Two-hour meeting with President Putin. He was small in person but not in presence."
In a statement, Eton College told the Telegraph: “This was a private visit by a small group of boys organised entirely at their own initiative and independently of the college.”
