First shooting to fame on The Only Way Is Essex, Ferne McCann is used to attention from the public.
But in recent weeks though she’s found herself at the centre of a different media storm after police revealed they were searching for her then-boyfriend in connection to an acid attack in an east London nightclub.
Arthur Collins has since been arrested and charged but Ferne, who confirmed she was expecting their first child in the days following his arrest, has taken a break from the public eye.
As she returns to ITV’s This Morning, we found out everything you need to know about her.
Who is Ferne McCann and why is she famous?
26-year-old Ferne is from Brentwood, Essex, where many of the scenes for The Only Way Is Essex are filmed.
Before her rise to stardom she worked as a hairdresser.
Her first brush with fame came in 2012 when she participated in the Miss England beauty pageant, finishing in the top 15.
A year later she joined the cast of Towie in its ninth series along with her then-boyfriend Charlie Sims.
On the show Ferne developed a reputation for being confrontational or outspoken, though she told Essex Live that this was not a true reflection of her personality.
“I'm naturally honest, opinionated and outspoken, but there was a period when I got swept up in being on the show and I would think, 'I'll say something witty, shocking or whatever', just to grab airtime.
“In reality, I'm a kind and decent girl who got sucked into behaving in a certain way that didn't always show my best side. But I never forget that no-one made me join and no-one ever put words in my mouth.”
She left the show in 2016 after feeling that she’d become “a pantomime character”.
What else has she appeared on?
In 2015 Ferne entered the I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! jungle as a late arrival along with fellow reality stars Vicky Pattison and Spencer Matthews.
Finishing third, she said was proof that she could step away from the on-screen persona created on Towie and be more herself.
In January 2016 she was taken on as a showbiz reporter for ITV’s This Morning and travelled around Italy with fellow I’m A Celebrity contestant Vicky Pattison.
This Morning’s cameras also followed her as she underwent rhinoplasty, having been vocal on her insecurities about her nose.
A keen actor, she also landed a role in the Union Theatre’s production of The Great Gatsby as Myrtle Wilson in March 2016 and reports suggest she has also secured a role in a Hollywood movie alongside Margot Robbie.
Since her ex-boyfriend’s alleged criminal activity, however, her TV career is reported to be suffering.
Senior TV sources told The Sun that Ferne had been in talks for a major new project, but “the general bad publicity about the case has meant it just wasn’t the right time.”
What about her and Arthur Collins?
Ferne and 24-year-old Arthur first began dating in the summer of 2016.
In the same week of the acid attack, Ferne appeared alongside Arthur on the cover of OK! Magazine.
In the interview she talked of her plans to marry Arthur.
Two weeks before the acid attack, she discovered she was pregnant with their first child.
Once police announced their desire to speak to him in connection to the incident, she deleted every picture of the two of them together from her social media accounts and has distanced herself from him.
Who else has she dated?
Ferne has said she will always love fellow Towie star Charlie Sims since their five-year relationship ended.
In the past she has also been linked to footballer Dele Alli and had a brief fling with comedian Russell Brand.
She described her relationship with Brand as “a dalliance that's a lot of fun, but you know isn't going anywhere”.
“We had undeniable chemistry and he was charismatic, intoxicating and intriguing, but we weren't right for each other,” she said.
Before Arthur’s arrest came to light, she spoke to Closer magazine revealing that she always goes for “mean boys”.
“I’m always going for similar sorts of guys and it’s just not working for me at the moment.
“I know what qualities I’m after I just never seem to go for those.
“I go for mean boys,” she said.
