Christmas has hit the high street, just over two and a half months ahead of the big day.

John Lewis has unveiled its festive decor at its flagship Oxford Street branch, decking out the atrium with baubles and twinkling lights.

This year's theme is entitled "A different perspective" and features triangular red and green Christmas trees suspended amidst large mirrored balls.

The decorations were installed by two workers suspended on abseiling lines and took four nights to complete.

The retailer has announced it will be hiring 3,000 temporary staff across the retail and distribution arms of the business to cope with the Christmas rush.
