Classic BBC sitcom Are You Being Served? is returning to our screens on Sunday August 28. The characters are the same, but the cast is very different. We compare Grace Brothers' staff then and now.
Mollie Sugden played the indomitable head of ladies' wear Mrs Slocombe in the original run from 1972 to 1985. Benidorm star and Loose Woman Sherrie Hewson will don the pink rinse in the remake.
John Inman made "I'm free!" a household catchphrase as camp sales assistant Mr Humphries. Bafta-winning actor Jason Watkins will take his place in the revival.
Before she was dowdy Pauline Fowler, Wendy Richard set pulses racing as sexy sales assistant Miss Brahms. Catherine Tate Show actress Niky Wardley will be the one clashing with Mrs Slocombe in the new show.
Haughty supervisor Captain Peacock - Frank Thornton in the original - is played by another sitcom legend in the shape of Only Fools and Horses' Boycey John Challis.
Bumbling manager Mr Rumbold was played by Nicholas Smith, who was the last surviving member of the original cast at the time of his death in December 2015. Justin Edwards, best known for political comedy The Thick of It, is the 21st century Rumbold.
Arthur Brough played grumpy Grace Brothers veteran Mr Grainger until his death in 1978. Roy Barraclough - Coronation Street's Alec Gilroy - makes a welcome return to our screens in the remake.
Former music hall comedian Arthur English wore the brown overalls of maintenance man Mr Harman. Another Arthur - comedian Arthur Smith - is sure to irritate Captain Peacock in the new show.
Also appearing on the shop floor are Gavin and Stacey star Matthew Horne as Mr Grace, Hollyoaks temptress Jorgie Porter as Miss Croft and newcomer Kayode Ewumi as Mr Conway. The one-off episode, written by Benidorm creator Derren Litten, will be on BBC1 on Sunday August 28 at 9pm.
