The brand new BT Smart Hub, which is available to order now priced £65 (an incredible saving of £64.99 for BT customers) is packed with innovative technology that helps make it the router with the UK’s most powerful wi-fi signal.
Smart Scan and Smart Wireless are two of these technologies - discover what they do and how they make your router more reliable.
What is Smart Scan?
This built-in feature helps ensure your wi-fi connection is reliable by detecting problems with your hub and network and fixing them.
How does Smart Scan work?
It works in the background, scanning proactively, so you don’t have to do anything. If it detects a problem with your network connection or hub, it reboots the router.
The last thing you want is to be interrupted by your router restarting, if you are using your home wi-fi, so Smart Scan intelligently picks a time to reboot when it’s not being used – such as at night.
Is it unique to BT?
Yes, the patented technology is unique to BT, so you won’t find it included on routers made by any other broadband provider
What is Smart Wireless?
As more and more people use wi-fi, channels can be congested, which can lead to interference. Smart Wireless helps you get the best connection by selecting the channel with least interference.
How does Smart Wireless work?
Like Smart Scan, Smart Wireless runs in the background analysing the wi-fi channels, if it detects interference it searches and swaps to the one with the least congestion.
The BT Smart Hub is a dual-band router, which means it works on the 2.4Ghz and 5GHz wi-fi bands, Smart Wireless scans them both separately to find the best channel.
What devices are Smart Scan and Smart Wireless on?
Smart Scan is on the BT Smart Hub, BT Home Hub 5, Home Hub 4 and Home Hub 3.
