Technology has dramatically changed the way we manage and spend our money over the last two decades.

Banking apps let us control our finances from the palm of our hands wherever we are in the world as long as we’ve got a web connection. Contactless cards allow us to make payments up to £30 simply by tapping – we can even pay using our mobile phones with services like Android Pay and send cash via Facebook Messenger.

In the future, technology is going to have an even bigger input in banking, with the use of biometrics becoming ever more widespread. We took a trip to BT’s research labs at Adastral Park in Ipswich to visit the ‘Agile Bank’, a banking showcase that gives a taster of some of the ways in which technology could transform a trip to the bank.
