Whether they are slimmer, have a small bezel, or are curved, TVs are getting more stylish, admired as much for their appearance as well as what they show. Panasonic has taken front room integration a step further, creating a screen you can see through.

At the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas, Panasonic demonstrated a transparent LCD display.

You can watch it like a normal TV – enjoying Full HD movies, for example – but swap it to transparent mode and you can see through it and even get weather information at the top.

There seems to be a slight tint in the glass, but the effect is impressive. It could change the layout of the living room – rendering the TV set invisible until you want to use it. Panasonic says the height of the screen can be adjusted.

At the moment it’s only a prototype, so there’s no news if or when we’ll be seeing this type of technology.
