Co-op Insurance has driven along the Snake Pass in the Peak District, Cheddar Gorge in Somerset, Brecon in Wales, Lairg to Laxford Bridge in Scotland and Buttertubs Pass in the Yorkshire Dales and captured it on video along the way.

How does it work?

Go to the Virtual Road Trip homepage in your preferred browser.

If you have a headset you can download the YouTube app for Android or iOS for free from Google Play or Apple's App Store, and watch the videos on that. You will need to go to the YouTube page to see the majestic drives in their full 360-degree glory.   

To watch without a headset, you can watch on YouTube from the Virtual Road Trip homepage and click through with your mouse to travel around the roads.

Fancy going a bit faster? Hover your cursor over the video, click the cog-shaped Settings icon in the right-hand corner of the video and click Speed. You can then set how quickly you want the video to play.

The five drives take virtual tourists around stunning drives in England, Scotland and Wales.

Snake Pass, Derbyshire

The A57 in the Peak District takes a beautiful route past rolling hills and the car drives along in the sunlight making it an enjoyable experience.

Make sure you turn around in the last minute to see Ladybower Reservoir.

Cheddar Gorge, Somerset

A road that dips and weaves amongst the Somerset gorge, famous for its cheese, this 360 road trip allows you to twist and turn amongst the landscape.

Builth Wells to Brecon, Powys

Famous for its incredibly beautiful landscape, the hills around the Brecon Beacons in mid-Wales is a great place to test 360 video. Going from Builth Wells to Brecon on the B4520, the car takes you through Welsh countryside.

At the 14-minute mark, make sure you spin the view around to see the hills behind you as well as those in front.

Lairg to Laxford Bridge, Sutherland

Heading off to the Highlands of Scotland, this journey starts in a village but soon hits the open and magnificent landscape.

At the 15-minute mark you’re driving by a beautiful loch, surrounding by incredible countryside.

Buttertubs Pass, Yorkshire

Cruising from Simonstone to Thwaite in the Yorkshire Dales you go past dry stone walls and see the verdant hills and landscape.

It’s extremely relaxing to click around the video and discover what’s to the left and right of you as well as following the view from the driver’s seat.
