Open up Google Maps on your preferred browser at www.google.co.uk/maps.

Type “computer shop” into the search bar and it will show the stores near to you. You need to allow Google Maps to know your location for the search to work or click Nearby.

You can also search using a shop's user rating if you use the drop-down menu on the left-hand side. Click the arrow and select what rating you would like.

If you click the tick box next to Update results when map moves then the results will keep updated while you click around the map.

Find nearby transport times

On iOS and Android it's now super easy to find out what the nearest transport links are around you. Open up Google Maps on your phone and simply swipe up and at the bottom there's Explore, Driving and Transit.

Transit shows you bus and train stations nearby, driving shows you traffic and explore offers you food and drink suggestions.

To find other facilities on Google Maps

An update rolled out in November 2017 has helped users to find out what’s nearby. The new icons have been colour coded to show quickly where there are Food & Drinks, Shopping, Health, Entertainment/Leisure, Services, Civil Services/Worship, Outdoor or Transport.

There have also been updates on road conditions, meaning you can quickly see if there’s been a road closure, construction or accident before you set out on a journey.
