Facebook notifications are great when you’re chatting with friends or want to know who’s admiring your holiday snaps, but can be very annoying when a throw-away comment you’ve made on someone else’s photo leads to a torrent of alerts as friends of friends add their own irrelevant remarks.
It’s especially annoying on smartphones when every ‘ding’ prompts a disappointing glance at the screen. Fortunately, you can easily put a stop to notifications before they happen. Here’s how…
Turn off Facebook notifications for a post on a PC
Go to the post that you are receiving notifications for and find the small downward-pointing arrow to the right.
Click it and select Turn off notifications for this post.
Notifications should stop appearing from then.
Turn off Facebook notifications for a post on a smartphone
Whether you’re using an Android or iOS phone, the steps are the same.
Open the post that you are receiving notifications for and tap the three-dot symbol on Android or a downward-pointing arrow on iOS.
Select Turn off Notifications for this Post.
