The iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus are the new geneartion of iPhone and they’re available now from BT Mobile.
The iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus support 4G connectivity. 4G, or fourth generation, is a mobile technology that brings high-speed internet to your phone, with download and upload speeds much quicker than the previous generation 3G – up to three times as fast.
Why do I need 4G?
Using your iPhone to do anything that requires an internet connection is much quicker on 4G than 3G.
Web pages load more quickly, there’s less waiting for Google Maps to load (particularly useful if you are following directions) and YouTube videos stream more smoothly.
4G is noticeably faster for activities that use more data - such as downloading music, apps, TV shows or movie downloads from iTunes. It’s also quicker for uploading, whether you want to post photos to Facebook, videos to YouTube, or back up data from your iPhone.
4G is always faster than 3G, although speeds will vary depending where you live and signal strength: right now 90% of the UK population can currently get 4G.
Control your usage
Because it’s so fast you might find yourself using your iPhone for data-intensive tasks like watching streaming video a lot more often. This means you might find you use more data than you used to but BT Mobile has four simple tariffs offering 500MB, 3GB, 6GB and 15GB of data – if you go close to your data limit, you’ll get an alert, and if you set a spend cap, you won’t get an unexpectedly large bill if you go over your monthly data allowance.
What is Extra Speed 4G?
BT Mobile customers can get even faster speeds with an Extra Speed 4G add-on.
Available to all customers, the Extra Speed 4G add-on lifts your connection speed up to 60Mbps* instead of 30Mbps, so that uploads and downloads are blisteringly fast.
Extra Speed 4G is available from www.bt.com/mobile and works on a rolling 30-day contract, so you don’t have to make a long-term commitment.

* With Extra Speed 4G, the maximum speed available through the network is capped at 60Mbps rather than 30Mbps on our standard 4G. The speeds you get on your phone will be lower, and depend on things like the number of users, distance from the mast and the type of 4G phone you have. This add on is valid from the moment you buy it and then runs on a 30 day rolling contract. Extra Speed 4G is not available on BT Business Mobile plans.
