The digital age means great times don’t just live long in the memory, they might just live forever tucked into memory cards on your smartphones, ready to be relived with friends and family.
And while we all enjoy filming those special seconds and amazing incident, every now and then our videos could do with a minor tweak, tousle and teeny-weeny edit. Luckily there are a bunch of great smartphone free apps to help you do just that. Here’s our guide to five of them…
Magisto – Magical Video Editor
You almost can’t say Magisto without saying ‘magic’ and this awesome little app is a wizard at automatically finding your video’s best bits and chopping and shaping them into minor movie masterpieces. Trim, filter, drizzle with music and sound effects and knock your friends’ socks off.

With its riff on spelling the word ‘montage’ and toolbox full of clever little functions to mess around with five-second clips, this app is all about small but perfectly formed filmic moments. And to add a slice of spontaneity to things, shake your phone responsibly and the app will add songs and filters randomly chosen from its clever – if a little crazy – digital mind.
Cute Cut lets you unleash your artistic side by allowing you to ‘draw’ on your video, adding effects, shadows, borders and textures to achieve a beautiful mash-up of filmmaking and fine art. Your clips have never looked so good!
