Have you ever left your local shopping centre or arrived back at the airport but struggled to remember where you parked your car? It’s happened to most of us at some point or another but, thanks to Google Maps, walking up and down streets or around car parks looking for your vehicle could now be a thing of the past.

Google Maps has just had a really useful update which lets you mark where you left your car, so you’ll never be left scratching your head again.

The feature works on both Android and iOS versions of the app, provided you’ve got it up to date. Follow the easy steps below to set it up:

Step 1 – Ensure your version of Google Maps is up to date

You won’t be able to use the new parking feature if you don’t have the latest version of Google Maps installed. To ensure you have the latest version of Google Maps, simply open the Google Play store and open the main menu by tapping the three vertical lined icon at the top left.

From the menu select My apps & games.

Find Google Maps from the list and tap Update.

A menu will appear at the bottom of your screen. Select Save your parking.

Step 3 – Add extra notes

You’ll still need to remember things like what level you parked the car. Tap Parking location at the bottom and add any relevant notes about your parking location.

You can also add a timer, so you’ll be alerted when your parking ticket or maximum stay is running out.
