Consumer technology moves so fast these days that something like a new smartphone can feel out of date within just two or three years.

So what, we wondered, would the kids of today think of the gadgets we grew up with in the 80s? Gadgets which are now – gulp – 30 or so years old.

We gave a Sony Walkman WM-22 – a classic personal stereo from 1984 – to some children aged 12 and under.

For the record, the Walkman cost us £17.98 on eBay. The kids’ reactions? Priceless.
