Karaoke can be a little embarrassing for those of us who sound like a cat being strangled when we sing. But thankfully there’s an answer for the tone deaf - Typing Karaoke!

Pick a tune, and instead of singing along, you type the words as they’re sung. It’s all the fun of karaoke, with none of the embarrassment. And unlike real karaoke, it’s actually easier when you’re sober.

There are 10 tunes to pick from, including I Won’t Give Up by Jason Mraz, OMG by Usher, and Skinny Love by Bon Iver. The slower numbers are easier – Creep by Radiohead was about our level – while faster ditties like Carly Rae Jepsen’s Call Me Maybe left us breathless.

The whole game is presented in adorable 8-bit graphics, just like arcade games of old, which adds to the charm. It’s the brainchild of games developer Travis Chen, and it’s great fun if you’re bored at work. Just careful you don’t get carried away and start singing at your desk.
